I just googled your reservoir (yeah, I'm cool like that), because I wanted to know more about the drowned towns in there. They don't say 'drowned' though, they're nice about it and say the towns were 'discontinued.'
ReplyDeleteDid you know that during the time in which the reservoir was forming, the eventual bed of the reservoir was used as the Quabbin Reservoir Precision Bombing and Gunnery Range? The range was used by planes from both Hanscom Army Air Field and Westover Army Air Field. Seriously.
Also, you should go to the Five College Radio Astronomy Observatory on the peninsula... it looks super cool, especially after dark. Are you allowed out after dark? Probably not, and if you are, you'd be too tired from being so peaceful all day :P
I miss you around, kid. Hope you're doing well.
Lol, I did not know all that. You would love it here though - despite the tragedy of 'discontinuing' several towns just so Boston could continue to be wasteful, the Quabbin is so beautiful. And I am allowed out at night... as long as I can get past the search light and guard dogs.
